Directivity Investigation for the Optimum Therapeutic Approach Towards Single-Parent Family

Abstract

|
This study was conducted in order to investigate the directivity for the therapeutic approach towards single-parent families. 119 papers published from 1995 to 2012 on single-parent families were selected for this study. The results of this study were as follows. First, the subject of the research was categorized into the following; single-parent families, single-parents, children, the adaptation of single-parent children, request for support, and macroscopic system. Second, certain time specific features revealed that the research for the single-parents was activated between 2011 and 2012. Third, single-parents were the main object of the research. Fourth, the results indicated that qualitative research and program research methodologies were actively used for the research methodology and the quantitative research was the main methodology. Fifth, in-depth and continuous counseling was necessary for parent of single-parent families. Moreover, individual counseling according to age and play therapy were helpful for the children concerned. These methods helped parents and children to recover psychological stability and heal.
